Whirlpool - 21 cu. ft. Top-Freezer Refrigerator

Near 4 years old. This basic unit was a second unit used for extra storage. It has recently developed a problem which I am investigating with Whirlpool. For some unknown reason in the freezer, it has started to develop a sheet of ice on the freezer bottom shelf and everything is being trapped in the ice. Whirlpool has been very helpful in trying to figure this out even though this unit is out of warranty. Unit is still operating correctly in keeping food cold and frozen food frozen, and gasket is in good shape.

This is a great fridge. It's very roomy for two people. I did have to have the motor replaced, but that may have been my fault. The freezer vent was blocked. Lots of room for fruits and veggies.

We purchased this refrigerator for our vacation home as a second appliance for those holiday and overflow needs that everyone has. We have been really happy with the simplicity, performance and value from Whirlpool. This model is very quiet, and the interior drawers and shelving are sturdy and well designed. The shelves are glass, with may points of adjustability to customize it according to your personal preference. This unit was at the right price point as well.

We are a family of three that cook daily so we need enough room for leftovers various gallons of milk and the essentials (eggs,butter,milk,bread,condiments) that being said, there is plenty of room for food to be stored, it's also very quiet, I love the glass shelving in the fridge and freezer, very easy to clean, just take all the shelves out and wash. I like that I can rearrange the shelves on the door to different hights. I gave this 4 stars because for a family of three, this is good but one more and you'd be packing it to tight causing bad circulation causing foods to go bad and nobody wants that. Also I would of liked for this to be a little bit taller due to the fact that the deli drawer taking away space from the bottom shelf, a simple mayo jar won't fit right side up, of course i can lay the jar on its side, this doesn't bother me much, it's more of a convenience thing. Overall I'm content with it and it works for us.

the door does not close unless you physically shut it all the way. although i thought the deli tray would be ideal for all my meats and cheeses, it really is not very convenient because the drawer will fall out of the trackswould return if i could, not satisfied at all.

I have always liked the Whirlpool brand. The 21 cu. ft. size holds enough for my 4-person family. The price was excellent. The feature that appealed to me the most was the full-width pantry drawer. That being said, I think the engineers need to work on its design. I like to put yogurt, sandwich meats, cheese, tortillas, and bacon in the drawer. The drawer comes out of the side guides way too easily. Other than that, I really like my new refrigerator.

Bought for a weekend home and it's so much nicer than the old frig. Love the clear glass shelves and the clear crisper and veggie storage doors. Lots of room on the door makes things easy to find and it really holds a lot of food and drinks.

I'm happy with the fridge. It's very roomy and great quality for the price. I wish the shelving was a little different so allow for more storage, but overall it's great. I love that it's energy efficient too!

I bought this frig a month ago. I always had a Kenmore I liked it. This Whirlpool doesn't compare to it. Sorry. There is no light in the freezer and the meat drawer isn't deep enough and the top shelve has no room for a gallon of milk. I don't like the space in the door it hits the shelves in the frig when you close the door. I guess I am stuck with it. Not happy but what can I do. Jane Hoffman

I purchased this refrigerator 5 months ago and it really works great! It's consistent with temperature, has the space that I need, (I live alone, so one or 2 people max for room allotment) and has adjustable bins and such for storage. However, the top of the interor has the lighting and temp control panel mounted dead center above, so you lose approximately 4" H x 8" W x the depth of the top shelf, where taller containers need to be placed on either side. Also, the refrigerator is set up for automatic door closure, which is a great feature but when the door closes even at this force, the freezer door, which is located on the top, Pops Open! So you need to keep an eye on it to be sure it closes again!! I do not keep my freezer compartment packed full, (so you would not be able to get away with that here!!), and I have checked to be sure that something else could be causing such a problem, which would indicate to me that the magnets are not strong enough to keep the door closed, even though the seals appear to be working properly. Otherwise it runs quietly and produces plenty of ice quickly!! I'm sure if you purchase this refrigerator you will be satisfied with its performance with the exceptions that I've indicated.

We recently purchased a 21' refrigerator. There are several features that we really like = the variety of the shelves in the door; the full width cheese tray and instead of the produce crispers being the same size, one is wider which is great for celery and longer vegetables. Overall we are very happy with our new addition.

Needed a new fridge without the bells and whistles and bought this about a month ago; so far pleased with it. This was the biggest (21 cu. ft.) top freezer model i could find without breaking the bank.Holds temperature very well but was a little disappointed with the lack of space inside. Spacing for the shelving could have been thought out better as well. If making room on one level to fit say a carton of milk the level below is very small. Freezer space was a little cramped as well. Drawers inside are very thin plastic and sort of flimsy, but i noticed this on many of the other brands as well whenshopping for a new fridge. They do slide very easily so no need to slam them shut. On the plus side this model is very quiet while running. For people with a huge budget this would probably be a good garage fridge. It fit my needs as a primary fridge for my kitchen. Overall for a basic model this is a very good value for the money.

I have only had this for about 2 weeks now but I am totally in love with it. My old refrigerator was also a whirlpool and was about 20 years old, and it still ran, it was only 14.1 cubic feet with the old metal shelf's in it, everything would fall over! This one has so much room, three large draws and large adjustable shelf's. Very Happy with it.

This is a basic refrigerator is a good value for the money, however, it has its drawbacks. The interior drawers are not well made. The upper drawer that spans the shelf falls off with any weight. The bottom drawers also fall out of their tracks. This is common, as I found out that my parents had recently purchased the same model. It would be nice to have functional drawers, as well as have the ability to adjust the shelves. It would also be nice if there were a light in the freezer.

After looking for a refrigerator to replace my old one , I found this one on sale .21 cu ft. and only 32.5 in wide, reversable doors.It had to fit into the space I have available and still offer me more usable space than my old one. It is wonderful. Big roomy door to handle gallon containers, the full width drawer for cheese and lunch meat, holds so much more, the butter, cream cheese, bacon and because it is a full width drawer things don't get covered up and lost.2 big produe drawers at the bottom made of clear plastic , plus the shelves are glass so it is easier to see through.The freezer is big and spacious, it came with optional icemaker which I didn't want .I am happy with my purchase and would buy it again.

Model has just the freezer/refrig ratio we were looking for. The only change I would recommend is making the milk trays 1/4" wider...two gallons in one tray are too tight and on two occasions the tray fell off its bracket while removing one of the jugs. Otherwise, the unit efficiently constructed, is quiet, and overall a great value.

Old fridge died suddenly and went shopping for something that would fit in the space built around it. Found great fridge with great side shelves. Regular shelves not so much. Not enough height for milk and 2 liter w/o almost eliminating center shelf.

After many years we decided to replace our old fridge and this model fit the bill. It's 2 cubic feet larger and fits in our space which is a plus. We're still working on utilizing the door bins to their maximum but love the wide deli bin, much easier to see what's there. So far no problems and love the energy star savings.
