We purchased this refrigerator in November and have been using it for about one month. It replaced a Samsung French door refrigerator with dual ice makers that was almost constantly broken. We were initially concerned about downsizing to one ice maker but the new Whirlpool has kept up with our ice demands. The fact that the ice maker is completely contained in the door opens up an extra shelf in the freezer so we have plenty of freezer storage space and it is easy to keep organized. Before purchasing this model, we read reviews about noise issues. However, we have found it to be very quiet. The ice dispenser is noisy when dispensing ice but no more than other refrigerators we have used. We love the measured fill for the water dispenser and use that feature daily. Other reviews have mentioned the exposed corners near the hinges at the base of the refrigerator and I agree that it is odd that those were not closed off. We have a throw rug that occasionally gets caught in the opening so I marked down the design in my ratings for that issue. One month out, we are extremely happy with our purchase!

We bought this Side by Side last month after having a French Door unit and are happy with the change! Water flow could be a little more powerful but that's about all the complaints we have. Looks awesome, and LED lighting fixtures inside and out are a very nice touch!

This fridge is high value and size for the price.
But the quality of craftsmanship has issues.
Isolation flows out of joints. And screws in the back are loose and metal holes that screws sit in are not quality designed.
If you want big for reasonable price its ok
But if you want quality it is not

Wanted a French door refrigerator but the space I had wouldn't accommodate one. I found this 28 cu. ft. side by side and it fit perfectly. I have tons of space inside and great features. Love the ice maker inside the door gives more room in the freezer. So happy I found this.

Bought this about a month ago it is huge. Love the space and ice in the door. Only complaints. The water in door sometimes isn't ice cold and the ice cubes are too chunky to fit in wide mouth sports water bottles.

We replaced an Electrolux Susye by side 23 cu ft with this 28 - fits nicely in same width just deeper
We like the extra storage
The freezer is bigger as the ice maker is in the door
What I don't like
Lighting in refrigerator seems like an afterthought- too bright and once the top shelf is full - the lower shelves are dark
The freezer needs another shelf / or drawer
The refrigerator water inlet valve is noisy and intermittent- makes the water line hit the back of the refrigerator- even after securing the line- it will actually vibrate the whole refrigerator
Time will tell on this
Better temp control would be nice - some icing occurs at back of top shelf - needs better air flow management

I'm in love with my new fridge!!! Had it for just over 3 weeks now and the relationship is going great! I don't know how I put up for so long with my old fridge and all its faults. It's a pleasure having this fridge in the kitchen; it's so quiet, certainly by comparison to my old one! There are lots of storage space, although I wish there was an additional shelf in the freezer and another cubby on the fridge door, but that's just a personal preference. Another thing that I like is that when you open the door, the door stays in that position and don't carry on opening.
Overall, I am really pleased with this fridge and would recommend it to my family and friends. The only thing I wish is that they made it in white!!

The water nozzle (spout) need to be a little bit more proeminent because many times you put any bottle to fill and the water goes out because is not a good position to fill it. The person many times without condition to do that need to curve the back.
This is no good position for old people.
The time to make ice I think that is much.

We needed a new refrigerator and thought that the 28 cu. ft. unit would be perfect. When it arrived we were a little surprised that the cab was gray rather than black but that wasn't that important. What was important was that there were several problems with the doors. The refrigerator door liner was foamed incorrectly and was swelled to where the trays would not fit in. The door seal was also incorrectly installed and rubbed against the freezer door when closing. The freezer door has a in-door ice maker which was not latched at the top and was not in alignment with the chute below. The air filter between the refrigerated side and freezer side was also missing. Customer service was contacted (on the day of delivery) and a serviceman - great guy - came out within a few days. He agreed that both doors were bad and ordered new ones. They were delivered within about three weeks and, while the refrigerator door wasn't much of an improvement, it was good enough to keep. The freezer door however had the control panel foamed in to where there was foam all around the top and it was sunken in too much. A third door was ordered and I was notified that when it came in the electrical connections were too messed up to install and that a fourth door was ordered. When it arrived, it was installed and appears to be reasonably correct. At first the door gasket did want to seal correctly but with enough "massaging", it does now seal.

We bought this when the compressor in our 10 year old fridge died. We have not even had it a month, so still getting used to the new layout/set up. Everything works as expected. The only thing that has been out of the ordinary was that the ice dispenser was LOUD when we first got it. After about a week, I found a few pieces of plastic in my drink one evening. I emptied the ice and closely inspected it but found no other evidence of more pieces. After that, it is not as loud.

First machine did't cool. By the time we discover it was'nt cooling and receipt of replacement we experienced a great deal of frustration and spoiled food.

What I would Improve........the door Ice and water switches...they should NOT require that much pressure (force) to activate and the lower half of the paddles should be what activates the switches (Not the top)!!

No butter compartment or egg tray.
Freezer drawer slides open when you open door, shelves not adjustable.
Refrig temp varies , factory setting froze eggs , can' Put things on top shelf that will freeze . Ice maker small and loud when dispensing.

I bought an LG French door with 2 Drawers Several years ago and it had problems from the start. The drawers were frosting up. One drawer, inside was not staying in place. The ice maker area wasn't insulated enough and the bins on the side of the door broke apart. Those were not made as one piece.
When my ice maker stopped working I bought a new one and installed it. Then, the filter started leaking and a towel had to be placed in the fridge.
I got so fed up I felt like I spent over $2000.00 for a piece of %$#@.
I went looking and found this beautiful, well built fridge. It is sturdy and everything works Great! Thank you Whirlpool. I am very Happy with my new refrigerator!!

Bought this unit little over a month ago, really enjoy the space inside along woth the extra freezer shelf space. I like that it can dispense certain amounts of water without you having to hold the lever in. Only thing I wish ot had was a enclosed compartment for the top of the refrigerator door.
